Welcome to Montopia! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Montopia’s services, including our software, website, and support offerings (collectively, the “Services”). By creating an account, signing up for a trial, or using Montopia’s Services, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
Montopia is a subscription-based platform designed to support schools with parent engagement, communication, and education tools. Our Services include access to the Montopia software, onboarding and training support, and other features described on our website.
New schools are eligible for a 14-day free trial to experience Montopia.
During the trial, schools are required to provide payment information to ensure a seamless transition to a paid subscription.
At the end of the trial, the subscription will automatically transition to a paid plan unless canceled before the trial ends.
A one-time setup fee of $500 is charged at the end of the trial period.
The setup fee includes:
Comprehensive training for staff
Parent education support
Teacher onboarding assistance
The setup fee is non-refundable.
The monthly subscription fee is $1.99 per active student.
Charges are calculated based on the number of active students on the billing date.
Subscriptions are billed monthly starting from the end of the trial period.
Payments are processed automatically using the payment method provided at signup.
Schools will receive a confirmation email with a receipt after each successful payment.
If a payment fails:
The system will retry after 24 hours.
An email will be sent requesting updated payment information if the second attempt fails.
The account may be suspended after three failed attempts until payment details are updated.
Schools may request to freeze their account for up to three (3) months per calendar year by contacting montopia@ymontessori.com.
During the freeze period:
No subscription charges will be applied.
All school data will be securely retained.
Accounts may be unfrozen at any time through the Montopia portal with no additional setup fee.
Freeze requests must be submitted at least 7 days in advance.
To cancel a subscription, schools must contact montopia@ymontessori.com.
Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
Access to the Services will remain available through the end of the billing period.
If a school re-subscribes after cancellation, a new $500 setup fee will apply.
Montopia does not provide refunds for mid-cycle cancellations.
Schools retain ownership of all data submitted to Montopia, including student, parent, and staff information (“School Data”).
Montopia acts as a data processor/service provider and uses School Data solely to provide and improve the Services.
Montopia collects only the data necessary to operate the platform, provide support, and deliver educational and communication features.
School Data may include student names, classroom information, parent contact details, and engagement-related activity.
Montopia does not sell School Data or use it for advertising purposes.
Montopia implements high administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect School Data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.
Access to School Data is restricted to authorized personnel and service providers who require access to perform their duties.
Montopia is designed to support schools in meeting their obligations under applicable student data privacy laws.
Schools are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate permissions and notices in place for data shared with Montopia.
School Data is retained during:
The free trial period
Active subscription periods
Approved account freeze periods
Upon cancellation, Montopia will retain School Data for 90 days, after which it will be permanently deleted unless otherwise required by law or requested in writing by the school.
Montopia may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email and/or within the Montopia platform. Continued use of the Services after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Montopia is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind.
Montopia does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Montopia’s total liability is limited to the amount paid by the school in the three (3) months preceding the claim.
